Top 5 Things to Do in Baltimore This Winter

Baltimore Winter

So, thinking about visiting Baltimore in the winter? It’s almost a different city then, you know? The summer crowds are gone, and there’s like, this certain kind of quiet that settles over everything. It might be colder, alright, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t great Baltimore attractions and ways to have fun. I want to show you some amazing spots!

1. Immerse Yourself in Art at the Baltimore Museum of Art

Baltimore Museum of Art

That Baltimore Museum of Art, it’s actually one of those places that feels especially cozy when it’s freezing outside, right? You walk in, and you’re suddenly like, in a totally different space – warm, quiet, and filled with beautiful things, or something. I mean, admission’s free, too, which is rather nice, so, and you could easily spend hours looking at paintings, sculptures, you know, all sorts of awesome art from different periods. There’s also this café there, Gertrude’s, actually, with some very tasty food – the kind of place where you might like, warm up with a cup of soup or something hot after looking at art in Baltimore. Plus, they’ve got various events and exhibits happening, very much. Check their schedule before you go!

2. Explore the National Aquarium

National Aquarium Baltimore

Speaking of escaping the cold, the National Aquarium – very amazing location – it’s another perfect indoor activity, still. Like, you’re instantly transported to, I don’t know, like, some underwater wonderland, that is. Walking through all the exhibits, seeing all those colorful fish and cool sea creatures – you could totally lose track of time. It’s quite great for everyone, truly; you’ve got kids? Fantastic, or something! Solo? Sure, or something! With someone? Perfect still! There’s even like, a 4D theater there, if you’re that way inclined, which just makes it feel more real for kids and adults. And if you are curious about the location – Inner Harbor that is.

3. Catch a Show at the Hippodrome Theatre

How does spending an evening inside one of those beautifully designed places sound, eh? Well, going to a show at the Hippodrome Theatre could be exactly that, actually. Like, the building is kind of old and grand, you know? I think it has just so many fancy details, and seeing a show there, whether it’s a big Broadway production or something different, it makes the whole experience very awesome, honestly. Dress a little more warmly as winter days can be extremely very nippy when travelling in Baltimore.

4. Stroll Through the Inner Harbor Ice Rink

Alright, I know, I know, I’ve mentioned escaping the cold quite a bit, alright, but this is a winter trip to Baltimore – so, like, if you’re going to embrace the cold, you might just like, go ice skating at the Inner Harbor Ice Rink. It sounds kinda romantic actually, especially at night when all the lights from the city are reflecting on the ice – yet, there can be no greater time than in the afternoon, yet. That Inner Harbor is basically a landmark, and during Winterfest that place comes extremely alive. Plus, it’s really a bit of good exercise, you know, especially after all that awesome, delightful Maryland food you’ve probably been eating around Baltimore. You can always find parking spot close to it, I’m more than sure.

5. Experience the Charm of Fell’s Point

Fell's Point Baltimore

Speaking of Maryland’s best stuff to sample, Fell’s Point is rather one of those places you could just, well, wander around, right? Like, the cobblestone streets and super cute buildings there feel so inviting, particularly when they’re decorated for the season or something. There is a bit of different feel than Harbor East (which has super interesting spots of its own, as well, too!) and you’re able to just enjoy it solo without much people around; or join in groups. And there are many cool restaurants, so, you’ve the option of cozying up in there with some crab cakes, which that is basically mandatory when you are travelling in Baltimore Maryland. I always find very good street food around here, particularly when they celebrate St Patrick’s Day in advance, honestly. You will find it, too!
