Chicago’s Top 5: Can’t-Miss Experiences in the Windy City

So, planning a trip to Chicago? That’s great! You know, the Windy City, right? You know, with so much to see and do, it’s almost overwhelming. In a way, to help you focus on the best, here’s a look at five absolutely essential experiences you just can’t skip.

1. Reaching New Heights at the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower)

Very first up, well, very obviously, is the Willis Tower. And like, yeah, some people still call it the Sears Tower, by the way. Very much a Chicago landmark, it was like, you know, once the tallest building, in the world, apparently. That being said, that claim is obviously a bit dated, but like, that’s okay. Anyway, you can zip up to the Skydeck Chicago for killer views. On a clear day, the scenery is gorgeous! It feels like, too, that you can see into like, four different states! Then too, the Ledge is like, that part, you know, the glass boxes that extend from the building. That is really wild to step out onto! Honestly, it makes you feel like you are walking on air! You know, in that case, though, if you’re even a tiny bit scared of heights, this might very well be an extreme sport. But it can also be thrilling and beautiful, for sure!

2. Strolling Along the Magnificent Mile

Next on the list, and of course a bit more grounded, too, is Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile. Now, you will probably spend hours shopping, it is very true. Even if that doesn’t sound like you, like your favorite kind of day, apparently you still ought to walk it, basically, anyway. The street just pulses with Chicago’s special kind of, energy. Anyway, besides the flagship department stores, there’s all sorts of attractions here! Some of them, well, basically historical landmarks. Some are architecturally stunning buildings. And also the Water Tower, you know? Anyway, for example. In other words, for goodness sake, just soak in the city views! This famous street truly is like, so iconic and it is wonderful! The atmosphere makes it quite unforgettable! Of course, at the end of the day, you need good walking shoes.

3. Immersing Yourself in Culture at the Art Institute of Chicago

So next up: if you’re at all like, the sort who gets transported and wowed by incredible artworks, very probably this spot should not be missed. That, is the Art Institute of Chicago, anyway. Seemingly, with collections that, like, span centuries and the globe, it has got very, very much to offer. Okay, now I get to drop some names…they actually, have some serious famous artworks, so I’ll say: Grant Wood’s “American Gothic,” you know, for example, or Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks,” as well. So in a way, it doesn’t really matter, what sort of art interests you — that being the case, it is very, very, very, very likely you will find yourself blown away by this place. Just like your trip through art history right there! Maybe plan for several hours. It can happen! And it just is almost never enough.

4. Taking an Architectural Boat Tour on the Chicago River

Another “must,” actually, it probably needs to be a boat tour. Arguably, in order to really gain a real feeling for the Windy City and just how the city-center buildings fit, there needs to be river involved. That being said, a boat tour! On the Chicago River, yeah. First off, an architectural boat tour. Like that, basically. And look, you may think you aren’t that into building styles and city plans or anything, that may be the case. Just like your experience might be changed forever. Apparently these tours explain how Chicago grew. And, it will change how you like your city skylines. Also, just sailing down the river provides nice views. Apparently even for Chicagoans, anyway. That might also make you feel all fresh and alive. Like in that way. A very terrific opportunity to chill out a bit, even so, while seeing amazing structures. Apparently.

5. Experiencing the Delights of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”)

Lastly, Millennium Park really deserves the visit. That could be for many reasons, anyway. It is home to “The Bean,” of course! (Officially Cloud Gate). Very cool mirrored sculpture where, too it’s almost you just kinda must get your photo taken, basically. It also shows Chicago architecture reflected on the bean. However, it’s not only The Bean that provides things to marvel. You see, it also includes the Crown Fountain. Arguably it involves interesting faces displayed using LED lights and also water features. It creates really nice fun interactions. Also, the Lurie Garden offers a place to just rest. It features interesting plants to view. Just so good, that park. Anyway, that will leave lasting impressions of the best experiences from your visit!
