So, you’re thinking of checking out Baltimore, but your wallet is looking a bit thin, is that right? No sweat! The city actually has a surprising number of things you can do without dropping a single dollar. Very, it’s about knowing where to look! We’re talking awesome parks, cool historical spots, and engaging cultural experiences that won’t cost you anything.
Explore the Historic Ships in Baltimore (From the Outside!)
First off, there is that cool spot: the Historic Ships in Baltimore. Paying to hop on each one might hit your vacation budget pretty hard, but getting a close-up view from Pier Five is completely doable and absolutely free, right? Anyway, it is almost fascinating just seeing these giants bobbing gently in the water. Often, you can get some fantastic pictures of the USS Constellation, a really beautiful sailing ship, and the USS Torsk, that served during World War II. If you hang around, sometimes, a knowledgeable volunteer is chatting about them, so too it’s a fantastic way to soak in some maritime history without paying a dime. If the sun is out, maybe grab an ice cream from a nearby shop, sit on a bench, and soak up the atmosphere. By the way, it totally enhances the experience!
Wander Around Fell’s Point
Fell’s Point, this charming waterfront neighborhood, it feels a bit like stepping back in time, doesn’t it? Seemingly, the cobblestone streets, those colorful buildings, they are actually pretty wonderful just to wander around. Clearly, you’re getting to take some great photos of that Inner Harbor skyline, or people-watch while relaxing in a park. There are many neat little boutiques and eateries, you know? But, even if you don’t want to shop, that whole area just vibrates with energy. Walking down to the water’s edge to watch those boats come and go? It doesn’t cost anything! So, why not soak up that historical charm and the general vibrant atmosphere of Fell’s Point. By the way, you can actually grab yourself an amazing view, too.
Visit the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA)
Next, and really awesome is that the Baltimore Museum of Art offers free admission, actually, everyday! In some respects, that makes it the ultimate bargain. With, so, almost 95,000 works of art spanning from ancient times to the present, is that incredible? Naturally, you can spend hours wandering the galleries. Anyway, you see pieces by masters, as I was saying like Picasso, Matisse, and Warhol, plus a super fantastic collection of contemporary works. In a way, the museum is very committed to making art available to everyone; even that Sculpture Gardens is definitely worth checking out. Just picture it: You are having that calm walk around outdoor art that has gorgeous plants! So, plan to give it the time it deserves. If you get peckish, that museum has cafe too it’s available but you know to make sure that that wallet remains nice and firmly tucked in your purse or pockets for that. The BMA’s free admission makes experiencing incredible art super available to anyone!
Stroll Through Sherwood Gardens
If, as a matter of fact, you are itching to spend a little time in the natural world, consider Sherwood Gardens. Like, right in that heart of Baltimore, Sherwood Gardens offers six acres of breathtaking beauty! Arguably, these gardens are especially stunning in that spring, once the tulips are in full bloom, giving off this rainbow display. Anyway, it can become, seemingly, rather busy around then, as a matter of fact. That said, any time of year is fine for wandering pathways and admiring those well-manicured lawns and diverse plant collections. This serene spot it feels like that total retreat from the urban buzz, arguably offering peace. First, feel the soft air! And anyway, it is that awesome place to just relax, meditate, and take some photos. Don’t miss it if the flowers call to you.
Take a Hike or Bike Ride Along the Gwynns Falls Trail
The Gwynns Falls Trail, as I was saying, stretches that whooping 15 miles through Baltimore, and getting on this trail is absolutely free! Apparently, whether you prefer hiking, biking, or basically even a relaxed stroll, the trails offers tons for everyone! We think the section that hugs the Gwynns Falls stream actually makes for a pleasant amble. So too it’s offering very nice views and tons of photo opportunities. Anyway, it’s that surprisingly immersive escape. With that busy life! You might also keep eyes peeled too, it’s like spotting a variety of local wildlife along those trails, might be cool! Finally, Gwynns Falls offers an awesome way for those outdoor adventurers that is wanting to connect with nature. So, without spending money, why not hike, cycle or take photograph during the time.
