This landmark in Kuala Lumpur, reaches to height of 421metres which is also the seventh tallest telecommunication tower in the world. Its unique location within a forest reserve at the city centre named the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve make this tower a place worth for a visit. Besides enjoying the surrounding view of the city up from the observation tower, visitors may as well take a cooling walk in the forest reserve, exploring the nature beauty that’s carefully preserved.
KL Tower was built year 1992 to 1995, to improve the quality of telecommunication services and the clarity of broadcasting with its lengthy antenna of 86 meters. The KL Tower was officially opened on 1 October 1996 by the Prime Minister that time. The tower shaft comprises 22 levels with 4 elevators and flights of stairs with a total of 2,058 steps. The lift takes only 54 seconds to reach to the observation deck and takes 52 seconds to come down.
The tower’s structural design portrays elements of Islamic religion through its intricate motifs of classic Islamic floral patterns colors and Arabic scripts. The main dome at the lobby entrance and exits of the upper ground level is clad in glass, forming the reflection of a diamond form, while the multi spheres are arranged in the traditional Islamic 'Muqarnas' form. This outstanding 'Muqarnas' masterpiece was crafted traditionally by the proficient Iranian crafters.
At the terrace area where the 1 Malaysia Cultural Village can be seen, it’s a model that showcases the lifestyle and cultures of the local groups comprise of Malay, Chinese, Indian and other aboriginal tribes. This cultural village that stretches to an area of approximately 21,840 sq feet also features interesting cultural performances such as Bamboo Dance, Silat Presentations, Fire Blowing, Gamelan Music Performance and many more. In addition, visitors can also enjoy traditional games like “Congkak” and “Batu Seremban” as well as have a look at all the unique handmade handicrafts displayed here.
The Seri Angkasa Revolving Restaurant situated inside the KL Tower is the fourth highest revolving restaurant in the world, 282 metres above ground level, where diners can have a pleasing 360 degree view of the city while having their meals. Both lunch and dinner buffet are served with widespread selections of Western, Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines.
Other than that, facilities inside the tower available include souvenir shops, The Zon Duty Free shop, observation deck, XD Theater, a large amphitheatre that can accommodate up to 250 spectators and another smaller one for up to 50 pax. Besides, there are also the KL Tower Animal Zone, Pony Ride Zone and the F1 Stimulator Zone that will surely provide more entertainment experience to the visitors.
