Kite festival is one of the festival held yearly in the state of Johor organised by the Malaysian tourism authority. This festival is held every month of February. In 2011, more than 180 kite flyers from all over the world participate in the festival.
This festival held is to commemorate the Malaysian traditional kite, "Wau Bulan", as well as develop Johor state as tourist spot. Wau Bulan is Malaysian moon-kite ( floral colorful motifs) that is traditionally flown by men in Malaysian. Bulan means "moon". Typical the wau size is 2.5 meters in width and 3.5 meters in length. On top of the hill is the Kite Museum, displaying varity types of kites including Malaysian traditional Wau Bulan.
